Colossians 1:15-16 (KJ21)“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him.”Oh, brothers and sisters, hear the Word of God! Jesus Christ, He’s the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. The first fish that darted through the rivers, the first squirrel that scampered up the oaks, the first ostrich that pranced across the plains, the first orangutan that swung through the jungle—Jesus is the first! Every creature, every crawling, soaring, slithering thing, it all sprang from Him. “For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. Psalms 36:9”. Colossians 1:16 lays it bare: “For in Him all things were created!” Heaven and earth, seen and unseen, thrones and powers, rulers and authorities—every last speck was made through Him and for Him.
Now, those bound to this world , bound to the insanity of circular reasoning taking simple riddles and exchanging them for complexity. The chicken or the egg, From the bright-eyed child to the elder, from the fool to the wise, every soul knows this question is downright preposterous. Yet, For Those who’ve been touched by God’s grace see it plain: before any chicken, before any egg, there was the breath of our Holy God. The Father, the Son—the first begotten of the living and the dead (Revelation 1:5)—and the Holy Spirit, they spoke, and creation burst into being.
From the dawn of time, Jesus, the firstfruits of all the creatures of creation, handed this earth to man. Every creature and every seed bearing herb was placed under man’s dominion, and Adam, stood there and as commanded and named them all—every beast, every bird, every creeping thing (Genesis 2:19-20). And when the Messiah came, oh, what a marvel! Not named by the Father’s thunder from heaven, but by Mary, the blessed virgin, most honored among women, and Joseph, of Judah’s tribe. Jesus, the Son of Man, born of us, one of us, to save us all—Jew, Gentile, heathen, every nation under the stars. While also being named by us.
And when Satan came sneaking, tempting Jesus in the wilderness, what did our Lord proclaim? “Man don’t live off bread alone, but by every word that comes from the Father’s mouth!” (Matthew 4:4). That’s the truth, literal and alive! And in the days of the new Covenant, Jesus, He lifted the bread and blessed it, saying, “This is My body.” He raised the cup, saying, “This is My blood, given up for you” (Luke 22:19-20). And He vowed, “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood and believes in Me has forgiveness of sins and life eternal” (John 6:54). Can the literal word of God be….a symbol! This no metaphor to soften the truth. It’s the literal body and blood of Jesus Christ, given for you and for me. KJV “Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day”. John 6:54.
Yet, how often do our brothers and sisters dilute the words of Christ? They call it symbolic, metaphorical, as if God’s truth needs our tinkering! Perhaps to help us understand fantastic things, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”declares the LORD.9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts, Isaiah “
But listen close my beloveds: every symbol, every metaphor, it only points to what’s real, what’s literal, for our weak minds to grasp (Making the literal word of God into a symbolic or metaphorical interpretation ) then the symbolism shares relationship to icons, choosing what points to God rather than literal word of God as God is.
But we argue! Eating the flesh and Blood of Jesus.? Surely that’s symbolic!!. Yet As described in Colossians 1 15 , [being the firstborn of every creature]…. every fish, every fowl, every seed bearing herb. And when we eat anything that sustains us. I ask, are we not literally eating the flesh and drinking the blood of the living God.? From the spirit made everything.
For this argument of icons, fueled the great schism of the Orthodox church and latter the reformation. Yet we make icons in our mind, and every branch of the tree of God , every denomination wrestles with symbolism, witch which we to try to understand the nature of God in our lives.
Yet. We are commanded in 2 Corinthians 10:5 King James Version5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
The wisdom of this world, ispure foolishness, trying to trap our God in human cages, twisting His mighty words into idols or icons we can manage, better understand, perhaps make more acceptable onto the world for worldly acceptance. But the body and blood of Jesus? That’s literal, living truth, too grand for our small heads to fully hold. So Than we give our heads for God to hold.
Since the world was shaped, every seed-bearing plant, every creature, every man was molded from the earth’s dust. Mere dirt, soon to be a compost heap, till the Lord breathed life into it all (Genesis 2:7). Every heartbeat, every breath, every spark in our minds—it began when God’s Spirit moved over the waters. And as we take food from the earth, drink from the rivers, raise it to our lips to live, That is Holy Communion.. The flesh and blood of Christ, the Word that upholds all creation, it’s the same life in every bite, every sip.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). Every meal, every breath, it glorifies Him, for it’s His body, His blood, the literal body of the living God sustaining us.So, let’s not shy away from the fantastic truth of Christ! Let’s not conform His words to our understanding, but shape our minds to understand the literal word of God. The Scriptures, they’re the living Word, and they’re literal. If we falter, if we can’t see straight, if we chose symbolism to help educate us, then let’s cry out to God, who gives wisdom to all who ask (James 1:5). Jesus, the firstborn of every creature, the maker of all things, His body and blood given for us—He’s the life of the world, now and forevermore.
When the Holy word is anchored as the literal truth onto Christs church, then we can discern with increased accuracy all the blessings weve been missing. All the promises never coming to realization. The root of all the doubt. And prevent the ultimate demise of many, having made symbolic the literal living water and spirit , as perhaps a comfort for why these scriptures and their revalation never became revalation onto us. And so I declare. Put down your idols and icons and return to the living Word of God. For there is no other. The Lord God is the way the truth and the Life. Nobody gets to the Father unless they go through Christ.
Prayer
Holy Father, we praise You for Jesus, the firstborn, the creator of every creature. Etch Your literal Word on our hearts. Let us eat His flesh and drink His blood with faith, knowing it’s real. Give us wisdom to see Your truth clear. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
